The Benefits of Group Dog Training Classes

When your pup is learning in a (mini or small) group, part of the lesson involves learning how to stay focused when there are plenty of distractions nearby. Group classes get your pet used to other dogs, making it easier to maintain control when you’re taking neighborhood walks or playing at the dog park. You and your dog also get a chance to interact with other pet owners and dogs at a similar age or skill level.

Attending a puppy training class surrounds you with other owners who are also dealing with common issues such as housebreaking or chewing. Knowing that you’re all in this together makes it easier to work through the puppy stage and help your pet grow up into a well-behaved dog. To get an idea of what dog training school is like, check out this video of a group class.

Group dog training works great for all canine personalities. Shy dogs get the benefits of socialization with their trusted owner nearby. Outgoing dogs learn to interact with other animals and people in a way that’s safe. During dog and puppy classes, your pet also gets to interact with dogs of different sizes and breeds, ensuring that your canine companion will be ready for any encounter with larger or smaller dogs in the future. If you need more one-on-one interaction with a professional dog trainer, The Dog Wizard also offers private lessons. Some issues, such as separation anxiety and aggression, might be better dealt with on a one-on-one basis.

Teaching Your Dog to Make Better Choices

Our group classes also address behavior modification to help you solve common canine issues, such as excessive barking or leash pulling during walks. Our classes focus on teaching a calmer state-of-mind. Calmer dogs lead to less hyperactivity, and result in more well rounded, polite and less stressed members of the household. The lessons also translate directly to real-world settings, so your pet behaves better when you’re back at home or encountering other neighborhood dogs. Lifetime Support sessions for the adult programs take the real world scenarios to the next level!
