Frequently Asked Questions

There are several important differences between Day Training vs Board and Train. In Day Training, a trainer works with your dog during the day and you take them home each evening. With Board & Train, you enrol your dog in full-time classes, which is an option that’s well-suited for urgent or advanced behavior cases. You can also choose from options such as Private Lessons or opt for our Group Training classes. The ideal option for you will be best determined after an evaluation.
Most of the families we work with choose either the Day Train-6 or Day Train-15 option. Depending on your goals and dog’s behavior challenges, we will recommend the right fit after carrying out an evaluation.
There are certain vaccination requirements for our day programs, which means that puppies can start once they have been vaccinated. Meanwhile, adult dogs can start right after their evaluation with us.
Your dog will learn a broad range of skills and commands. We start our program with aspects such as core obedience commands, including Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, and Place. We also focus on leash skills, polite greetings, and remaining calm around distractions. The progress we achieve with your dog is always matched to your goals.
At the end of each day, your trainer will provide you with a “take home” lesson, where they will go over everything they worked on with your dog. You will then take this homework back and practice it until the next training day to reinforce progress and results.
Your schedule will depend on your location and desired goals and outcomes. We usually provide two to three sessions per week. All this is discussed with your trainer beforehand, who will map your dog’s training plan and schedule after the evaluation.
We only use e-collars when appropriate and agreed upon with you. However, they’re not required for most day programs.
Our training methods are reward-based. In particular, we use the balanced training approach with short, focused sessions and real-life distraction proofing.
We encourage you to make sure that your dog is wearing a flat buckle collar for their training sessions. Other things you should bring include a 6–8 ft leash, high-value treats (as we utilize the “work for food” approach), and current vaccination records (although these requirements may vary by location).
Absolutely! A Day Train program is a great starting point for reactive or anxious dogs. Depending on the case and level of reactivity, it may require a more intense program. However, a trainer will be able to guide you through that process after your dog’s evaluation.
If you miss a session, we can reschedule based on your location’s policy and calendar availability.
Yes, we offer ongoing practice options and follow-ups. Apart from group support/classes (where available), we also offer a lifetime support group that you can access long after the Day Training program is over.
The day training cost varies by location. However, all dogs start with a free evaluation, which recommends the ideal course of action to you, and it also includes a quote.
As our Day Training involves your practice at home, we don’t promise guaranteed outcomes. But we always commit to a clear plan, measurable goals, and offer you our full support along the way.
