We cover all the essential obedience commands you need to communicate effectively with your dog. But more importantly, we teach your dog to stay engaged and follow through with these commands, even in the most distracting environments. Collin Madeline about the owners

Collin & Madeline McCaskill

Owners

Hi everyone! We’re Collin and Madeline, proud owners of The Dog Wizard Southlake!

Both born and raised in Arlington, Texas, we’ve been married for five amazing years. We actually met back in high school on the golf team and later both attended Texas A&M University.

We’ve both been lifelong dog owners and lovers, and our two sweet Cockapoos, big brother Archie (4) and little sister Winnie (1), are our whole worlds. They’re the inspiration behind our passion for helping other dog parents like us.

When we’re not training pups or spending time with our families, you can find Collin rooting on all the DFW sports teams, golfing, or catching live music. As for Madeline, she loves trying new restaurants, cooking up a storm, and spending time with our fur babies.

We’re beyond excited to bring our love for dogs to the DFW community and help you create stronger bonds with your pups!

Amy Young

Trainer

Hi there!

My name is Amy Young, I’m 23 years old and I’m the lead trainer at Dog Wizard. My passion has always revolved around animals, I have two cats (Mochi and Bug) and a dog (Lando )! They’re my children and the loves of my life.

I spend the majority of my free time fostering animals, and hanging out at home with my “kids.” My goal has always been to advocate for dog’s and cat’s because they don’t have the ability to advocate for themselves.

I’ve always wanted to spend my life bettering the lives of the animals around me. I moved into the animal industry from the service industry, I was a fine dining server for 4 years. Which I absolutely loved, but didn’t serve my passion to the fullest extent.

As your dog trainer, I promise to be available to you as much as possible. While making sure you’re comfortable with the training process, and above all that your dog is comfortable with the training process. This is supposed to be a fun, encouraging process and I want to be your biggest cheerleader!

My goal is to fit your specific lifestyle needs with the specific lifestyle needs of your dog. We want to foster an environment of harmony, and success, while also building your dog’s confidence as well as your own!

Lauren Harper

Administrative & Customer Experience Specialist

Hi, I’m Lauren Harper, a proud DFW native, administrative assistant, and social media manager for The Dog Wizard in Southlake!

At The Dog Wizard, I keep things organized behind the scenes and help share the amazing transformations of our dogs and their humans through social media. Whether I’m coordinating schedules or capturing tail-wagging moments, I’m all about making the experience smooth, positive, and engaging for everyone involved.

When I’m not working, you can find me outdoors hiking, horseback riding, or enjoying local bands and open mics. I love hearing people’s stories, learning what makes each dog unique, and being part of a team that helps build lasting bonds between dogs and their humans.

Sadly we had a horrible experience with Dog Wizard Southlake. They took our dog to another facility without us knowing about it until after it was done. The facility was a local doggy hotel that does not provide any training. That facility only charges $80.50/day and does not provide training and does not have anyone trained to work with aggressive dogs. When I scheduled a week of Board and Train for our dog that has aggressive behavior, I was very clear about him and his needs. I left no details out and made sure everything was clear on his behavior and past traumas since he was a rescue. I was assured they specialize in this and had a trainer specialized in this. He was with the trainer less than 24 hours before she took him to a 24 hour doggy hotel and whoever checked him in was not the name of the trainer we left him in the care of. We took time at the trainer's home to make sure she knew him well and what to watch for and to make sure it was a healthy and safe transition. She texted the next day that she had to take him to a place they have a partnership with that had more skilled trainers that could work with him. She sent me the coordinates when I asked where he was. I looked it up and it was a dog hotel that does not do training and does not work with a dog with behavioral aggression. The trainer created more unnecessary stress for my dog, my boyfriend had to pay for an extra plane ticket to leave early from our trip and to get back to our dog. My dog exchanged hands with so many strangers and has been traumatized even further. They said they would offer a full refund, but then later said they were only offering a partial refund minus the days for the other location fees and then their fees. They even lied about what the other location charged them. I assume they figured I wouldn't call and investigate. I have the paperwork on my dog from that facility. The sad part is that facility let me know they (Dog Wizard) have never had a "partnership" with the Wag Hotel and instead have an account there and drop off dogs when they (Dog Wizard) have no space for additional dogs they booked for themselves, so they take them to the Wag Hotel. So sadly, people are being charged for a service and this place (Dog Wizard) is just putting people's dogs in another facility with people that don't train and are not trainers. Dog Wizard charged me $257.14/day ($1800/week paid in advance) to help my dog with behavioral challenges and aggression. Then less than 24 hours they dumped my already stressed baby off with another business and didn't even share with that business anything about my dog's history and trauma. Dog Wizard created extra stress and trauma to my dog, they caused stress to me and my family and disrupted our family vacation, they cost me additional money to book an emergency flight home and to get 2 other people I knew to help secure my dog until we could get a flight, and then have the audacity after all the stress and lies to want to charge a daily rate for it. THIS PLACE IS UNETHICAL AND I WOULD NEVER TRUST MY FUR BABY WITH THEM. [All the photos added are taken from the trainer and sent to me, well after my dog had already been taken there without my knowledge.]

What a great experience!! Our 7month old Shepherd Mix, Lucky Jane, did so well with the training. Our trainer Amy is Amazing! We are working and building on all the skills Lucky was taught and hope to do more advanced training early next year. Highly recommend!!!

Dog wizard is the best!
So I recently took in my puppy of one year Duke to Dog Wizard and I was shocked at how well he listened to Amy the trainer. They know what they’re doing over there and I will be returning in the future. Highly recommend to any “naughty dog” owners!

Amy Young is an amazing trainer. She pinpointed what we needed to work on and gave us practical ways to address his needs. She has helped us turn life around from being stressful with our Doberman puppy to enjoyable. I highly recommend Amy. She is patient and persistent with our furry family members.

Frequently Asked Questions

n
The Dog Wizard Southlake offers a free evaluation. This enables our trainers to talk with you, in depth, learn about your dog, go over your training goals, and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.

We do not have a one size fits all approach to training. Each dog owner team that has a free evaluation will have a customized program designed to fit your specific needs. While the cost of training is a wide range depending on a myriad of factors and personalization to your and your dog’s needs, training programs start at $250.

Additional questions? We’d love to help.
