Jack and Hope Turner

Owners

Jack is a graduate of the US Military Academy (West Point) and a decorated combat veteran. After leaving the US Army, he transitioned into a 20+ year career in Operations for a Fortune 500 company. Hope is a graduate of Georgian Court University and primarily worked in the accounting field before deciding to give that life up and enroll in an immersive program to become a certified yoga teacher. She is also an active volunteer with an animal rescue organization and the local food pantry. Both Jack and Hope are lifelong animal lovers, and like many, decided to adopt a rescue dog during the pandemic lockdown (a rambunctious pitchihuahua mix named Leo). After several not so positive experiences with dog trainers, they decided to learn more about dog training techniques and methodologies to find something that actually worked for Leo and his anxiety. They discovered The Dog Wizard and their balanced training methodology and decided to become owners. Jack and Hope are both graduates of The Dog Wizard Training Academy and are now focused on working with dog parents throughout Monmouth and northern Ocean Counties to improve their relationships with their beloved pets.

I was driving to work one day and saw the Dog Wizard Van. Took a picture and decided to give them a call. Spoke with Hope for a bit and was teamed up with Amanda. Great trainer. Very knowledgeable and calm demeanor. Had an absolutely great experience with my dog Rex. I look forward to going to the continuing training seasons.

I contacted The Dog Wizard to schedule training for my 6-year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Rescue. The care and training we received to assist Chewie with his anxiety and aggression toward other dogs/animals was first rate. Hope, Dylan and Amanda took great care of my guy and he is now experiencing an enhanced quality of life! Thank you all!

The Dog Wizard was such a great choice for training my dog, Jupiter. After Dylan dropped her off the first day, I could already tell she was changed for the better. After each training session, we applied what Dylan had been teaching her and she is now well behaved on our walks, knows commands and is generally calmer and more consistent with being a very goooood girl. Dylan kept in contact with me throughout the day to update her progress and send adorable photos. Hope was also pleasure to speak with. Overall, it was a great experience to work with this team and have already started recommending them to people I know.

Well you can’t convince me that ‘old dogs can’t learn new tricks’! Our Cockalier, Brian who is almost 8 years old has learned a good amount of commands just for him to follow with ease but will be very helpful for the future. Just the perfect amount of commands/lessons to not get Brian’s parents confused which is appreciated!

Last but certainly not least, Dylan (Brian’s trainer) was amazing at communicating throughout the days he was training Brian! He also did a great job with much patience relaying the commands and use of the E-collar to myself and my husband.

Overall, I highly recommend Dog Wizard! Hope is so sweet and also very communicative all throughout the process!

Thank you!

We recently had the pleasure of working with The Dog Wizard, and our experience was outstanding from start to finish—thanks in large part to our trainer, Dylan.

From day one, Dylan’s communication skills were top-notch. He explained techniques clearly, listened carefully to our goals and concerns, and made every session feel collaborative and encouraging. It was clear he genuinely cared about both our dog’s progress and our comfort through the process.

What stood out most was Dylan’s passion for dog training. He brought so much positive energy and deep knowledge to every interaction. His enthusiasm was contagious—not just for our pup, but for us too! We felt confident and supported as we learned new tools and approaches that made a real difference in our dog’s behavior.

We’re incredibly grateful for The Dog Wizard and especially Dylan. This experience didn’t just help our dog—it gave us a better bond and understanding. We’re so impressed, we’ve decided to continue with additional services to build on everything we’ve learned so far.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for thoughtful, effective training with a personal touch.

About The Dog Wizard Monmouth County

Frequently Asked Questions

The Dog Wizard Monmouth County offers a free evaluation. Most locations will even come to you to do one! This enables our trainers to meet you and your dog, go over your training goals and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.

We do not have a one size fits all approach to training. Each dog owner team that has a free evaluation will have a customized program designed to fit your specific needs. Because of this, individualized system pricing varies. Give us a call and we will help you set one up
