Jennifer Belle's love for dogs started early in her childhood. She started getting into dog training after she had been working with dogs for sports and realized her passion for dog training. She has been involved with training for several different things other than just obedience such as therapy dog training, some service dog training, sports, emotional support, and nose work. She currently competes with her dogs in dock diving, which they have been to the World Championships every year since 2015, disc, and FASTCAT.

Trent Steele

Owner and Trainer

Trent Steele is the Owner/Head Trainer of The Dog Wizard Savannah. He has been training professionally for 7 years. The way he got into training was through his own dog, Alex.

Alex was a rescue Weimaraner that Trent came across in 2009. He adopted him, and it was a match. Alex started dock diving in local ponds in Knoxville, TN. They both went to a DockDogs event in North Carolina and became hooked. They have been across the country competing as well as starting a club, Smoky Mountain DockDogs, in Knoxville. They met a lot of people, including the ones who started The Dog Wizard. He joined them, and the rest is history.

Trent currently owns Knoxville, Savannah, Tri-Cities, Huntsville, Maryville, and East Memphis. He has one dog now named Camille (pictured). She travels everywhere he goes. Camille is the demo dog. She loves dock diving (personal best 25’4″), frisbee, and long walks on the beach.

Great service, Jen and Jaden are fabulous. We had such anxiety about leaving our 6 month old Lab but after the first meeting we felt safe leaving him. It was well worth every penny. Petey has learned so much in two weeks. Jen and Jaden are truly wizards at training dogs and are very kind to them.

We love this place!!!! I did so much research before we took our fur baby to a puppy program and The Dog Wizard was the most affordable one plus they have locations in different states so you can continue to enjoy the lifetime support that they offer, even if you move to another city. To be honest, my husband and I were hesitating at the beginning because it sounded “too good to be true” but once we met our puppy’s trainer Jen, she was awesome, very patient and has such a great way of explaining things. We knew we were in the right place! Piper graduated from the Puppy Program and will soon start off leash training in Georgia, since we’re moving! Piper was super unconfident and shy at the beginning of the class, she was scared of other dogs. She successfully graduated and at her 4th or 5th class, we could notice how she was becoming more confident with herself and with other dogs while playtime. We highly recommend The Dog Wizard for your furry friends and your families. I promise you, it’s life changing 🥹❤️

The three trainers I met Cheryl, Jaime and Beth are outstanding! Your dog will love this education. The parents are excited to see positive change in their dogs behavior on day one. We love that parents are given homework, and supplies such as treat pouch, a variety of leaches for your pet, some class time with their dog, and educational notebooks. Having said that the parents learn dog language and their loving dogs receive lifelong skills. We also like that the whole class is involved on Facebook about progress with questions and answer sessions that keep everyone on the same page using identifying marker words keeps everyone on the same page. The training is set up to be pro interactive. We also like that there are many different training sessions for the parents to decide what training sessions are most appropriate for their pet. Personally we are very impressed with how well staff cares for your loving pet. Our dog Storm loves going to school. Lastly I wanted to mention that The Dog Wizard also have dog daycare and longer term boarding. I also see they have a full grooming department all centered on your pets needs. I’ve spoken to some parents that utilize the boarding and daycare for their dogs with a 100% positivity rate.

We had an amazing experience with Dog Wizard training, particularly with our trainer, Beth. Before training, walks were frustrating due to extreme pulling on the leash, our dog was reactive towards other dogs, and often wouldn't follow basic commands. Since completing the program, our dog's behavior is completely transformed: we now enjoy peaceful walks with minimal pulling, and our dog reliably performs commands like staying in place, sitting, down, and heel. Beth's instruction was fantastic, giving us the tools to enjoy a well-behaved dog.

Wanted to brag on The Dog Wizard. I enrolled my dog in private lessons. Our trainer was Beth. It is so apparent that she loves these fur babies as her own! Also, it’s apparent that she’s been doing this a while because her knowledge of dog behavior is unparalleled. Prior to this class, my dog did not know basic commands. He did not know how to heel or come when called. In addition, I have a better understanding of what he is thinking when I ask him to do something. She taught us both a lot! I would highly recommend The Dog Wizard to anyone who is interested in improving the relationship with their dog.

We had big issues with our 11 month old boxer pulling while being walked, jumping on people, counter surfing and not just pretty much being a stubborn puppy. Finn is a different dog now that he has been properly trained! He’s still young and very much a puppy so he still has a lot to learn but Jamie and the other trainers took the time to love him and treat him great!

Trent at The Dog Wizard met with us and discussed options that would best suit Millie--a high drive, high energy, high anxiety, dog selective, sweet girl--when she was five months old. We've completed basic and advanced training, and we attend the biweekly grad support to help Millie (and me) on issues like leash reactivity and holding position in anxiety-inducing situations. I feel supported by everyone at The Dog Wizard. I've never been shamed because Millie may bark or react poorly to a new situation; it's a learning opportunity for both of us.

I'm especially grateful for the daycare. The staff worked with Millie and got to know her rather than kicking her out because she can be a little extra at times. She loves daycare and from what I can tell the folks at daycare love her too.

I will always recommend The Dog Wizard for dog (and people) training. The methods are legit. And I have a more balanced dog because of it.

I cannot say enough about Cheryl and The Dog Wizard! Before coming to training, my dog had problems counter surfing, pulling on the leash, and listening overall. Cheryl has completely transformed our lives! Not only do I feel confident about my dog’s capabilities moving forward, I feel confident in myself to follow Cheryl’s steps and maintaining these new behaviors!

Our Doberman Millie just graduated from the 15 Day - Day Train program, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! We have a confident dog, who knows how to behave in public and at home. More importantly, Cheryl and Beth trained us so we know how to help Millie be her best self! We’ve already signed her up for the advanced classes so we can continue her training! So thankful for The Dog Wizard!

Our dog training goes beyond basic commands like Sit, Come, and Down. Our approach focuses on helping your dog make better choices and respond to you instead of their impulses.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Dog Wizard Knoxville offers a free evaluation. This enables our trainers to talk with you, in depth, learn about your dog, go over your training goals, and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.

We do not have a one size fits all approach to training. Each dog owner team that has a free evaluation will have a customized program designed to fit your specific needs. While the cost of training is a wide range depending on a myriad of factors and personalization to your and your dog’s needs, training programs start at $250.

Additional questions? We’d love to help.
