Meet Alex Callan, a zealous animal lover and eager dog trainer. She has a deep-rooted love for golden retrievers and Australian shepherds, with years of exposure in animal husbandry. Alex thrives in promoting high welfare standards for all dogs and providing the best care for their families.

With the aid of a college degree and a plethora of experience, Alex has refined her knowledge and skills to better succeed in the dog training industry. She practices patience and balanced training methods here, at The Dog Wizard, to build confident, congruous relationships between canines and their families.

Alex continues her passion for understanding animal behavior outside of work by volunteering at a local conservancy. From armadillos, sloths, and dingos to macaws, ravens, and emus, Alex has excelled in utilizing markers and the four quadrants of operant conditioning for training purposes with a range of species. She understands the importance of both physical and mental stimulation to provide canines with the best standard of living.

Outside of devoting the majority of her time towards caring for animals, Alex is an advocate for physical health. She maintains a consistent workout routine, including playing in a soccer league twice a week. Weather permitting days/months of the year, Alex loves to be outdoors with her Shepherd mix at a park or going for a hike. She will bring her beloved four-legged friend whenever possible to strengthen their bond and trust.

She possesses a strong drive to enhance dogs’ well-being as radiated through her work. As a dedicated, patient, and fun-loving, balanced dog trainer, Courtney uses proven classical and operant conditioning methods to achieve reliable obedience while keeping dogs’ tails wagging. She is particularly passionate about building confidence in both dogs and their owners and helping pet parents navigate challenging behaviors, like the separation anxiety she successfully managed with her own late dog, Ollie. Courtney believes effective training empowers owners to communicate clearly, allowing the whole family to live a happy, stress-free life.

Driven by a deep love for people and pets, Courtney focuses on helping first-time dog owners, busy families, and pet parents who need to calm an anxious companion. She provides exceptional dog training services and the highest level of care to achieve lasting results for dogs and owners.
