Josh is a Florida native, born and raised in the Clearwater area. His love and passion for animals came from a young age. Growing up on a farm he has experienced the ins and outs of animal care and behavior since a kid. Specifically, his affinity for dogs came from the family fostering dogs on their property, as many as 13 at a time! As an adult he has held different positions in the business world, but his love for dogs brought him back to working with the Dog Wizard. "Working with dogs has been the most rewarding job, seeing the positive change in not only the dog's behavior, but the relationship between human and dog changing for the better is amazing.

Emily was born and raised in San Diego, California before moving to Florida. She has always had a passion for animals, from riding horses at a young age and always having dogs in the family. She has been in the animal industry for 9+ years, ranging from managing a successful dog daycare, to animal nutrition, and now dog training at The Dog Wizard. Hello, I?m Liz and I?ve been working as a dog behavioralist for well over 20 years. Originally from NYC, I began my career as a pet trainer teaching basic obedience and leash manners. It wasn't until I was fully emerged in the pet industry that I saw a need to help owners and their aggressive or anxious dogs. Helping a dog work through fear or anxiety has been the cornerstone of my career. Teaching an owner and a dog to relate in a new relationship is the joy that continuously gives back. The one thing I've learned from dogs is living in the moment, and if we stop to live that moment with them and view the world through their eyes we would have a better appreciation of all the small wonders in life.

I don’t take Google reviews lightly—especially working in an industry where word-of-mouth referrals often begin with a solid 5-star rating. That’s exactly why I feel so confident sharing our experience with this incredible training company.

Our trainer, Emily, was truly exceptional. From the very first conversation, she took the time to listen to our family’s concerns about Raven as well as our goals for her. It was clear that every part of Raven’s program was thoughtfully designed with intention and expertise.

Raven completed the 10-day board-and-train, and the level of care she received was absolutely top-notch. Not only did she come home in amazing condition, but she returned with so many new skills and a level of confidence we’d been hoping to see. The transformation was remarkable.

One of the things I appreciated most was the outstanding communication throughout Raven’s stay. We were out of town during her training, and receiving consistent updates and detailed training videos made us feel connected, informed, and completely reassured the entire time.

The support doesn’t end after drop off, either. The ongoing support group is such an awesome resource, and we are genuinely excited to be part of it as we continue Raven’s training journey at home.

We had a wonderful experience with The Dog Wizard! We enrolled our puppy in the puppy jumpstart program and Fabian did an amazing job with her! She absolutely loved working with him and would get excited in the mornings to go see him. We have seen such an improvement in her behavior and with following commands. I cannot say enough good about dog wizard and the training that they provided to me and my sweet Aussie. In giving her a positive training experience, they gave me a life. Josh, Sadie’s primary trainer, was simply amazing. His training went far beyond her two week facility stay. Once Sadie was home, he provided in home training to me and my significant other that changed our life. That said, all the dog trainers at dog wizard take an active role in the dog training sessions and they are all highly trained and exceptional. I am so blessed to have had this amazing experience and I will happily and honestly recommend dog wizard to anyone.

Our Great Dane, Marvin, was paired with Trainer Josh, and it was a perfect match. Marvin struggled with confidence, general obedience, separation anxiety, and just being a dog in this world without being scared of everything. Josh helped him learn to settle, listen, and be confident in himself in a way I didn't think was possible.

Josh is amazing. The bond he built with Marvin to ensure trust on all sides, his consistent communication, and the confidence he gave us as owners were unmatched.

Now, Marvin is a completely different dog. He’s calm, confident, and actually listens (!!!). The lifetime support this place offers: bi-weekly group sessions, at-home visits, Facebook community, and always being available for questions—is just incredible.

Truly, go here for any and all dog training needs, you can trust them. Brain, the owner, has such amazing values and has built a team that takes such care of the animals. We started with the school drop-off program but later switched to board and train to better match Marvin and our needs. They were so flexible and supportive every step of the way.

This place truly changed our lives with Marvin, and I can’t recommend them enough.

Brandy is absolutely amazing! We needed some extra guidance on basic commands and anxiety. We tried going somewhere else first but it wasn’t the right fit. The Dog Wizard was our perfect match. Brandy helped Trix build confidence and master basic commands! Trix was eager to learn and loved seeing Brandy each day. I also love how welcoming the staff was and it truly felt like we were part of the family. Even after the initial training was over, we still get check ins and they offer other opportunities for dogs to flourish. I highly recommend The Dog Wizard!

The Dog Wizard Sarasota offers a free evaluation. This enables our trainers to talk with you, in depth, learn about your dog, go over your training goals, and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.

We do not have a one size fits all approach to training. Each dog owner team that has a free evaluation will have a customized program designed to fit your specific needs. While the cost of training is a wide range depending on a myriad of factors and personalization to your and your dog’s needs, training programs start at $250.
