The Dog Wizard South Simcoe offers dog training through private training sessions, group classes and board and train options. Cheryl MacIntyre

Owner and Head Trainer

Cheryl has always had a love for dogs beginning at an early age. She had a great interest in dog behavior, dog sports and dog nutrition (and even wanted to be a vet when she was young). In 2011, Cheryl began competing with her dogs in DockDogs. Her passion and love for dogs grew even more. She has attended events throughout Canada and the United States as well as helping others to learn and enjoy the sport of dock diving. She also competes in Dueling Dogs with her pack and has been competing at the world level in DockDogs since 2012 and Dueling Dogs since 2015.

Cheryl has also been a foster home for a number of dogs supporting NOLA Lab Rescue since 2012. She has had the opportunity to assess canine behaviors, teach basic obedience behaviors as well as accessing potential homes to make a perfect match for the families and dogs.

She is now embarking on a new career path as the owner and head trainer of The Dog Wizard South Simcoe.

Totally worth every single penny! Cheryl turned my Sumo into the goodest of girls 😊. She doesn't teach tricks. She addressed and corrected behavououral issues. Cheryl is extremely patient, listened to all of our concerns, trained Sumo AND us! Not only can I walk down the street without having to cross the street when other dogs approach, but at home, Sumo is no longer destructive. All thanks to Cheryl! If you think you can train on your own or follow a book, trust me, having an in person trainer will get you waaaaaay better results

We have had a very positive experience working with Cheryl! She is extremely patient and really wants to help. She is very responsive and supportive. We have seen a huge improvement in our dog's behaviour from working with Cheryl. Highly recommended!

We took a 7 days Training with the Dog Wizard. Cheryl is a very professional dog trainer. She always listens to our concerns and answers all the questions patiently.
After 7 days we can see positive results in our 1 year old Aussie Freya. She is less reactive now and more confident. It is such a relief for us to see Freya becoming more calm.

The Dog Wizard South Simcoe offers a free evaluation. Most locations will even come to you to do one! This enables our trainers to meet you and your dog, go over your training goals and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.

We do not have a one size fits all approach to training. Each dog owner team that has a free evaluation will have a customized program designed to fit your specific needs. Because of this, individualized system pricing varies. Give us a call and we will help you set one up
