The team at The Dog Wizard in Chattanooga is truly amazing! When we first brought our rescue dog, Tilly, she was anxious and scared. By the time she graduated, she not only had a clear understanding of her basic commands, but—more importantly—she had gained confidence and was so much less anxious.

We initially thought we could handle the basics on our own, but working with the experts here showed us how much we didn’t know about dog training and behavior. The difference has been incredible. Tilly is more secure, and our relationship with her has grown stronger because we now understand how to communicate with her effectively.

Tizzy and John were awesome trainers. We are so grateful to the team and couldn’t recommend them more highly. Communication was also fantastic - in the winter weather, we were always kept in the loop on class schedules and any changes immediately.

Tizzy, did an amazing job with my boy Dallas. During his boarding, he was communicative and provided feedback as expected from Dog Wizards. After the boarding, Tizzy explained the collar, and we went for a walk to make sure I was comfortable with my use and what is expected of me as the owner to reinforce the training he has received. I will be using Dog Wizards again for any future boarding and continuous training.

John and the Dog Wizard of Chattanooga what's a lifesaver for myself and Connor my dog. I rescued Connor over a year ago and he has been a handful. But thanks to John I am now easily able to manage Connor. The skill set and tools that we have going forward has made this such a pleasant experience. Connor is such a happy dog and we are so pleased with everything that John has done. I highly recommend the Dog Wizard Chattanooga to everyone who wants a rich rewarding experience in obedience training and managing their companions.

Keila was out standing. She was loving toward our 2 dogs. She had them for 2 weeks and she kept sending videos and updates to us. The transformation in our 2 Westies was incredible. Then she brought them home and trained us so we knew what to do and what to expect from them. Clearly they loved her because they kept going to her. They are really obedient and trained well. We couldn’t be happier with what she did with our dogs!! She’s a lovely person and a true dog whisperer. We highly recommend Keila and the techniques of the Dog Wizard!!
Keila has the perfect balance and I love the dog psychology understanding she has!! And she reads the dogs body language in an amazing way quickly. She blew us away meeting our Jake. Immediately knew he was afraid of many things ands anxious. She built his self confidence over the 2 weeks and we see the difference in him. Thank you!! The dogs listen beautifully. She’s amazing.

I have an 11 month old mini Bernedoodle that needed to learn some skills such as walking on a leash without pulling, leaving our cats alone in the house, being non reactive to other animals and people, and holding commands such as place and sit. And then I found The Dog Wizard and Lauren, who helped get Charlie set up with a 2 week board and train with Charlie’s trainer, Keila. Keila has been absolutely AMAZING and we have a well behaved puppy!! Keila sent videos every other day and texts letting me know what they were working on. Charlie can now do all the things I mentioned above in just a short 2 weeks. We are looking forward to the lifetime Saturday classes to continue with the training that he has learned. I’m thrilled to have a well behaved dog that I can take out in public now!! Thank you Keila!

Blue was rescued from a small rural shelter when he was just 3 months old. I adopted him soon after, and it didn’t take long to realize he was going to be a big boy with lots of energy — and that we’d need some real training to help him reach his full potential.

I chose The Dog Wizard because they offered a free consultation and lifetime support — both of which gave me a lot of confidence.

We were paired with Keila Lyons as our trainer, and I decided on the two-week board and train program. Keila was the perfect match for Blue! I really appreciated the regular updates and videos throughout the two weeks, which made me feel involved in his progress.

At only 8 months old, Blue is now a well-behaved, confident, and happy boy. I’m beyond thankful for Keila’s patience, care, and amazing work with him. I couldn’t be happier with his training experience or the results. Highly recommend The Dog Wizard and Keila! 🐾

Brian and John were great to work with. My wife and I are first time dog owners and we have a Great Pyrenees mix puppy. She is smart, but incredibly stubborn. We started her at 3 months once she was eligible with her shots and What a game changer these programs have been. I probably learned just as much as the dog by the time we finished. You can tell the trainers love animals and they mold their methods to each dog they saw. We were training next to German Shepherds and Chihuahuas.

The "before 6 month" puppy training was an incredible way to teach your dog good habits without negative reinforcement. It was teaching the puppy that being a good puppy is a lot more fun for everyone involved. After 30 minutes of class time, all the puppies had the chance to interact and "self correct" each other. Sometimes it gota little wild and rough. There were puppy teeth on the ground, and my dog was covered in slobber, but easily the best experience she could have had. This was an incubator for puppies all trying to figure it out. We never felt this ever escalated to a point where John wasn't in control. Even if there wasn't an instructional period in these classes (which there is, and it's great) these 30 minutes of mayhem were incredibly beneficial for our dog and us. Big dogs, really small dogs, dogs who climb on rocks, all figuring it out. It was a ton of fun to watch.

Once our puppy was passed 6 months, we transitioned into one on one training. Brian used the foundations our dog learned in the puppy class and built on from there. What an incredible transition. A big difference here is the pointers they give us humans on how to stand, relax our shoulders, when to reward, how to reward, and how not to award. It never felt overbearing or unattainable, just follow the steps and repeat a few along the way as needed. No need to keep yelling at your dog to obey, or yanking on the collar so hard you feel bad. Dog Wizard taught us owners a humane method with a focus on reward, not punishment.

Our little puppy can now successfully walk next to us on all of our walks, no leash pressure required. She can sit in a spot and won't move unless told to, and more. Much more. In 6 months with some dedication, a little hard work, and the Dog Wizard, you'd have an amazing companion for the rest of their lives. If for nothing, do it for the dog.

If you think your dog might be beyond hope, then this would be my next stop. These guys and girls are the real deal.

Thank goodness for The Dog Wizard. Our girl was so wild, she chewed the corners off our baseboards, constantly barked and jumped, and charged our guests, snarling. Karla took her home. Diagnosed her behavioral problems. Taught and trained her. Kept us updated with pictures and videos. Met with and educated us twice after bringing our girl back. Our home is calm and our baby girl is so much happier. She’s learned to relax and enjoy pets and belly rubs. No more home destruction. Thank you, Dog Wizard and Karla. 10/10.

We are so grateful to have found such an amazing dog trainer in Chattanooga. John worked with both our dogs in a private class. We came in with zero confidence and all the anxiety, and after the very first class we felt an immense change in the relationship with our animals . Learning the basics has tremendously changed our daily lives and I look forward to attending support classes! Thank you Dog Wizard for guiding us with patience. We had so much fun and will forever be thankful.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Dog Wizard Chattanooga offers a free evaluation. This enables our trainers to talk with you, in depth, learn about your dog, go over your training goals, and find a program that works for you. Give us a call and we will help you set one up.
The Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools; from food to collars to remote collars. We know that not all dogs do well with every tool and we will help you decide what tool is best for your dog as well as what tools you’re comfortable with using. At the end of the day, whatever tool you’re comfortable in using will be the one you’re most consistent in using and that’s what’s most important to us.
It is never too late to start teaching your dog new habits. It will take more time and effort than teaching a new puppy but you will love the outcome.

In order to know how long it will take to train your dog, we will need to do a free consultation. During your consultation, we will get to understand what you are looking to gain from the training as well as evaluate your dog to see what we will need to do to get him where you would like him to be. At that point, we will be able to give you a timeline for his training.

We do not have a one size fits all approach to training. Each dog owner team that has a free evaluation will have a customized program designed to fit your specific needs. While the cost of training is a wide range depending on a myriad of factors and personalization to your and your dog’s needs, training programs start at $250.
