About The Dog Wizard Montrose Beach (Chicago)
We work with dogs of every age, size, breed and disposition by developing a custom training plan specifically to address your dog’s needs and your concerns. And we offer a lifetime guarantee: Free refresher classes for the life of your dog. We’ll train your dog in your home, during day training sessions or during one of our board-and-train options. Every class has a customized curriculum designed to meet your goals for your dog. And, since we absolutely love dogs, we use only humane, stress-free training techniques.
Our training goes beyond basic commands like “Sit,” "Stay" and “Come.” We focus on helping your dog make better choices so he or she respects and responds to you – not their impulses or what’s happening around them. We cover all the essential obedience commands you need to effectively communicate with your dog. More importantly though, we teach your dog to stay engaged and follow through with these commands, even in the most distracting environments.
Start the journey today to a transformed dog you’ll proudly take anywhere.

Owner / Head TrainerFrequently Asked Questions
It’s easy! Just contact us by phone (773-355-4433) or use one of the contact forms on our website. We’ll schedule a free, no obligation evaluation during which we’ll ask you questions about your dog’s behavior and assess your dog’s training needs. Most evaluations last about 30 minutes. We’ll then give you our recommendations and some options for having your dog trained. Once you decide on a plan, we’ll schedule your training and get started! We can’t wait to show you the results!
All Dog Wizard trainers are well versed in a variety of training tools and techniques, all of which treat the dog humanely and respectfully. After all, we love dogs, so we would never do anything to hurt them. We also know that the tools and methods need to work for you and your whole household as well. At the end of the day, we’ll use the tools and techniques with which you’re most comfortable and that we agree will work best for your dog’s personality and temperament.
It’s never too late to start teaching your dog new tricks! Dogs love to learn, and they absolutely love to please their people! The best way to assess your dog’s “trainability” is through our free, no obligation evaluation. Contact us by phone (773-355-4433) or via our contact form. We’d be glad to answer all your questions or to schedule your evaluation.
Every dog is different, but in general, dogs can be trained to do certain things very quickly. For example, he or she might learn to sit and come on the first day of training. However, instilling that training so it lasts the dog’s entire lifetime takes a commitment from the owner to reinforce the training. This is the best way to achieve a lifetime of consistency so your dog knows how to behave in every situation you and they may encounter. So, for example, your dog could learn to sit and come on Day One, but he or she may lose this skill if you don’t reinforce it. Working with a trainer jump starts the acquisition of skills and obedience, and it sets you up for success over the long term. The bottom line? The average dog might be adequately trained in four or five sessions. But a dog with anxiety, aggression or other issues may take longer. Our focus is always to customize our training to best meet the dog’s personality and temperament, with the result being a confident, obedient, well-behaved dog you can take virtually anywhere without stress or worry about how he or she will behave.
The cost of training depends on the dog. Because all our programs are customized to the dog’s needs, we can’t provide a firm price without conducting a pre-training evaluation. However, we always offer a number of training options, and we offer payment plans to meet your budget.
