Why Use Private Dog Obedience Training Through The Dog Wizard?

Private dog training classes are one way a dog trainer can see the dog in its own environment. These in-home sessions are a time for the trainer to review the challenges the dog has so they can make recommendations about how to correct them.

Our private training options are suitable for dogs 8 weeks and older. We work with them on a variety of basic obedience commands, including:

  • Off
  • Come
  • Place
  • Sit
  • Down

We start the private lessons with the dog on a leash. This ensures that the handler, who is usually the dog owner, can direct the dog during the lessons.

All our lessons work to build the dog’s confidence. This can help it avoid problematic behaviors because it’s more sure of its actions and focuses on the positive behaviors it learns. It also helps establish you as the alpha within the home and builds the dog’s trust in you so you have a better relationship with your dog.

What Dog Training Methods Does The Dog Wizard Sarasota Use?

The Dog Wizard Sarasota uses various methods to achieve optimal success for the puppies and adult dogs we work with. Our primary focus is using positive reinforcement to teach the dog the desired behaviors. This also enhances the bond between dog and owner since the dog will look forward to the encouragement.

We also use corrective actions to address behavior problems when the dog has already begun a negative behavior. These are gentle corrects that can include things like redirecting the dog. We don’t believe in utilizing any harsh correction methods.

Another method we use is eliminating potential triggers for the dog. Our trainers can check the areas of the home where the dog exhibits problematic behaviors to determine whether there are any adjustments we can make. These can be as simple as adding chew toys to the living room so the dog isn’t tempted to chew on the furniture.

Do Private Lessons Work with Other Types of Lessons?

The Dog Wizard Sarasota offers other types of lessons, including group classes and our popular board and train option. All our programs work together, so pet parents who utilize the private lessons can also choose to include our other offerings.

Group classes are an ideal time for the dog to get the socialization it needs with other dogs and humans. This helps ensure the dog doesn’t get frightened when it has to be in busy areas, such as pet stores or parks. The dogs also learn how to obey commands in busy environments.

Our board and train option is our most intense package. The dog undergoes intensive training for 7, 14 or 21 days. The training takes place in our facility and is a fast track to help dogs understand the basic commands. We can also address other issues, such as potty training or mild aggression.
