Dog training improves communication and trust between you and your pet, establishing the foundation for a positive, long-lasting relationship. When your dog behaves well at home and in public, it can more easily integrate into your household and lifestyle and accompany you wherever you go. For training to be successful, however, you must invest a significant amount of time.

If you’re unable to fit dog training classes or private lessons into your schedule, consider enrolling your pet in the board and train program at The Dog Wizard in Frankfort.

Benefits of a Board & Train Program

Many dog owners find it convenient to put the initial training process in our experienced hands. Think of the board and train program as a personal canine boot camp. Your puppy or dog enjoys an extended stay with us at our kennel in Frankfort, working with experienced dog trainers to learn basic commands, life skills and the fundamentals of good behavior.

The combination of boarding and obedience training is great for dog owners who find it difficult to set aside time to work on skills at home. You can also time a stay for when you’re out of town or on vacation.

Our Jumpstart program is a hassle-free way to give your pet important foundational dog training. We also have board and train programs for puppies that address socialization and potty and crate training.

What’s Included in Our Dog Training Sessions

Here’s what you can expect when you drop off your dog for obedience classes at The Dog Wizard’s Frankfort training facility.

Dog Training Essentials

We cover on-leash and off-leash skills, loose-leash walking, and basic commands such as come, sit, down, and place. Your dog also learns to stay calm and handle distractions, which is essential when there’s a lot going on in your environment. By boarding your canine friend at our kennel, our dog trainers have plenty of time to get to know your pet, provide personalized attention, and work through specific behavioral issues.

Practicing Dog Obedience in the Lexington Area

Once your dog has learned the essential commands, it’s time to practice in real-life environments. We take our canine students to a variety of parks, shopping areas, and public spaces in the Lexington community so they can apply their skills in different scenarios. This makes it easier for you to confidently take your dog with you when you go out.

Private Lesson at Home

When the board and train program wraps up, we drop off your dog at home and teach you and your family how to maintain the newly acquired skills.

Ongoing Support

We want to ensure your ongoing satisfaction, so we also provide a follow-up dog training lesson to address any issues that come up after your puppy or dog is home.

Graduates of our standard Jumpstart board and train program receive access to a weekly support class for the life of your dog — come whenever you like — and a private Facebook group to share experiences and tips with other dog owners.
