Dog Training in Chattanooga, TN

Welcome to The Dog Wizard

Let’s Get Started

It’s not magic.

It’s dog training done right.

It is disturbing to think about how many dogs here in Chattanooga end up in shelters or being euthanized every day just because of behavioral problems that could be resolved with training! Every dog deserves the opportunity to be happy and reach their potential to be loyal companions with loving families. The Dog Wizard Chattanooga would like to help these dogs reach that potential and help their owners feel empowered and satisfied with our professional and compassionate approach to dog training.

Our training is not just about teaching commands like sit, down, and come.  We believe teaching your dog how to relax is equally important – this is skipped in so many other training programs.  Over the years, we have never had a client ask if we could help them make their dog more hyper. So, it would seem relaxation would be one of the most important aspects of training.

Just as important as relaxation is reliability.  Of course, we teach dogs all the basic obedience and commands you will need to communicate with them, but we also teach them how to follow through with commands even in the most distracting environments. What good is the “Come” command if they aren’t listening because they’re running after a squirrel, into the path of a car!

We believe in refining your dog’s comprehension of obedience so that it becomes a way of life for them, not just a few tricks they can show off when they’re in the mood. Besides getting to do more with their family, what does your dog get out of all this? A more balanced and productive life with happier owners! Half of our job is training dogs, the other half is coaching and teaching you, the owner, so that you can become a confident and skilled handler for your dogs. Unsure that our training approach will be a good fit in handling your pup’s issues? Not to worry! We offer free evaluations, unlimited lifetime follow-ups, and a money back guarantee…what do you have to lose?

“Chattanooga is a dog-lovers community. We want to promote that community feel by providing access to like-minded people who want to learn and master their dog handling skills together. Education with people and their pets, is the best chance we have to help diminish shelter overpopulation, and that starts at the earliest puppy stages possible,” Hayes explains. “My philosophy is that dogs don’t make mistakes; they are only doing what they think is right. It’s our job to teach them how to interact in the human world.”

Find Out How We Can Help

I can’t praise John enough. He is wonderful and very knowledgeable. I have seen an increase in my dog’s confidence with every session. She loves coming to class and has excelled with every passing week. I loved my dog before we started but she is a lot easier to love now. My husband said she was untrainable, and John proved him wrong. Being an AmStaff, I wanted to debunk the rumors of pit bull breeds being aggressive and her playful, gentle personality now shines when we are out in public because she knows the right way to approach people and other dogs. The money is well worth the investment. Don’t delay it, sign up now.

Since our very first training session we have noticed a big change in our Great Dane pup, Tallulah! This is 100% due to John Hayes and his amazing knowledge about training not only the dog, but the family who is working with the dog as well. Tallulah has learned so much and has taken to a whole new way of life. She lives and loves to please me and I have learned how to please and love her in a way that she totally understands now. I can’t thank you enough John. You go above and beyond as a trainer. Your love for the animals shines through your work and your desire for others to learn what you know as a trainer is exactly the key of forming the bond between pet/owner. I can not wait to place my next dog in your care! I will recommend everyone I know simply because of you, John!

If anyone is in the slightest bit considering having your dog professionally trained, I can’t recommend John enough. We had looked at this option several times and always shied away due to cost, but once we were forced to find accommodations for our dog during our move, we decided to invest in our furry family member…and I’m so thankful that we did!!  Before her time with John, Nala was a big, very lovable one year old “Bernifie”, who we thought was the epitome of rowdy and disobedient. We had resigned to having her in the backyard because our own kids were scared of her (she wasn’t aggressive…she just didn’t realize how big she was!). Our friends’ kids were scared of her, and she really received little interaction with us due to our inability to change her negative behaviors. This was not what we had envisioned when she joined our family, but we didn’t really know how to resolve the issue.  After just a short time with John, we were absolutely amazed at the dog he returned to us. Nala sits, comes, heels, stays in place…and all on our initial command. Our family walks are pleasant and enjoyable, and we are thrilled to finally have the family dog that we initially envisioned bringing into our home!! I’m most grateful that John has not just transformed Nala’s behavior, but he has enabled us as her owners to give her the life she truly deserves—by our sides and not isolated outside!! I would strongly encourage anyone who is considering training to consider it an investment that will enhance your dog’s quality of life.
